![]() To tell believers, week after week, that “there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus,” without explaining and expounding on what it means to be in Christ Jesus may have the unintended effect of condoning and enabling believers who are far more conformed to this world than transformed by Christ (Romans 8:1 12:2). Christian martyr Dietrich Bonhoeffer highlighted this difference when he compared the costly grace of Jesus Christ and His cross with the cheap grace of religious conformity and nominal Christianity. ![]() There is a tension between assurance and complacency. This glorious truth, the freedom from the fear of the wrath of God, can lead to spiritual complacency and evil complicity. We need to remain vigilant because the extraordinary comfort and assurance of eternal security in Christ can be corrupted. The Bible also teaches that believers will be rewarded based on what they have done. My attitude has been that the people who need to dread Christ’s judgment are those who refuse to respond to God’s gift of salvation.īut we must be careful. To be honest, I tend to view the Final Judgment as nothing to worry about because Christ has saved me from my sins. So then we will all give an account of ourselves to God” (Romans 14:10-12). “For we will all stand before God’s judgment seat. This assurance of salvation is consistent with the fact that all believers will be held accountable for their actions. All who are in Christ have a deep assurance that the blood of Christ “rescues us from the coming wrath” and “cleanses us from all unrighteousness” (1 Thessalonians 1:10 1 John 1:9). All who believe in Jesus as the One sent from God to take away our sins have already “crossed over from death to life” (John 5:24). The Second Coming of Christ will usher in the Day of Judgment, when the risen Lord Jesus separates the wicked from the righteous. This is why the church, the body of Christ worldwide, preaches the Gospel of grace, because Jesus will come again to judge the living and the dead (Acts 10:42 2 Timothy 4:1 1 Peter 4:5). “All whose names have not been written in the Lamb’s book of life, the Lamb who was slain from the creation of the world” will be “thrown into the lake of fire” (Revelation 13:8 20:15). The Bible teaches that the curse of sin and death is overcome by unmerited divine grace received through faith in Christ. Everyone who has ever lived-be they great or small-will be “judged according to what they had done.” The difference between eternal life and the “second death” depends on knowing Christ. The Book of Revelation describes “a great white throne” judgment at the end of history (Revelation 20:11-15).

Who plays at 6-foot-10 or taller in the NBA and can pass like Simmons? Only a select few. Look at the numbers for pick-and-rolls: Simmons dishes to the roll man or another teammate nearly two-thirds of the time, even more than a point guard, such as Dunn. When comparing Simmons to Buddy Hield (pictured in the illustration above) and the same peer group, Simmons is most likely to look for teammates out of three of the most common play types. Synergy also tracks how often a player passes out of each offensive set and how often he tries to create his own shot. A breakdown: He's unselfish compared to other top prospects And in transition, he was the ball handler on more than 60 percent of plays. Per Synergy Sports Tech's numbers, Simmons was involved in transition for 26 percent of his total offensive plays at LSU - more than any other type. (Magic had 11.2 assists and 3.9 turnovers per game for his career.) No one is expecting Simmons to do that in the NBA, but he is surprisingly well-versed in transition offense and being the initiator of the offense. ![]() Magic Johnson revolutionized the point guard position at 6-foot-9 - for his aptitude in the half-court game but, more so, for the impressive way a man his size could lead the way in transition and make smart decisions with the ball. Let's take a closer look at what Simmons brings to the table. Is there anyone in this draft class, in college in general or even in the NBA that possesses Simmons' combination of size and playmaking ability? We looked into it, and the numbers indicate he truly is an outlier. Since Wilt Chamberlain was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers in 1968, the Sixers haven't had a player 6-foot-10 or taller average more than three assists per game (part of the return for Chamberlain, 6-10 Darrall Imhoff, came closest when he averaged 2.7 in 1968-70). At 6-foot-10, he can handle the ball with ease and zip passes to open teammates, along with providing the scoring and rebounding output you would expect from a top-notch power forward.Īssuming they follow expectations and pick Simmons first overall on Thursday, the Philadelphia 76ers will be getting a unique talent as a passer and creator for teammates. — - There has never been a draft prospect like Ben Simmons. 1/28/2024 0 Comments Cuisinart blender![]() I think this cordless blender would be ideal for any new parent who makes and purees their own baby food. When I first used the blender, I was very cautious about docking the blending, the instructions were descriptive but a picture showing you how to line up the side notches and twist firmly would have been helpful. I used the blender to make soup and it made a smooth silky texture, however I feel that a one litre chamber option would be beneficial for family cooking. I would suggest purchasing additional blending chambers so that more family members could make their smoothies ‘on the go’. My daughter loves the drinking cup option and often takes this with her in a morning. The blending chamber holds about 350ml which is great for a refreshing drink. We found that we were blending more things and we are making smoothies most mornings. The blender took about 3 hours to fully charge and was good for about 8 blends before it needed recharging. At first, I was a little sceptical about the cordless capability, but being cordless aided greater flexibility in the kitchen and it was easy for my daughter to use. I am impressed with the quality of this item it is compact and does not take up a lot of worktop space. Locate the spot where you want the trap set, preferably near a tree, so that you can use the branches. The downside to this chipmunk trap is that it takes the most work, but the upside is that it is effective and cruelty-free. One of the best chipmunk and rodent traps is the classic box and rope trap. When you purchase snap traps for catching chipmunks, make sure they are the appropriate size for the type of animal you’re dealing with. Once the rodent’s weight sets off the trap, a metal bar snaps closed and instantly kills the animal. ![]() Snap trap works by setting up bait that lures the chipmunks to the trap. Whether you call it a snap trap, mouse trap, rat trap, or chipmunk trap, these devices are among the most common ways to catch and kill chipmunks.Īlthough they aren’t as humane as the catch and release method, they work well for those with a more extensive infestation. ![]() This trap is a common rodent trap that has a reasonably high catch rate. Once the rodent moves past the thin stick, the stir stick that they are standing on flips, and they drop into the bucket with no way to get out. The bait placement should be on the very end of the stir stick.įor the trap to work, the chipmunk climbs up the ramp and across the stir stick that balances over the thinner stick. Find a chipmunk attractant, like bird seed or peanut butter. Use the long piece of wood to create a ramp up to the stir stick. Place the thin stick across the top of your bucket and lay the paint stirring stick perpendicular to it so that it reaches about halfway across the bucket’s opening. Check around your yard and in flower beds to spot fresh burrows. Start by locating where you want to set up your trap. The same principle can be applied to homemade skunk traps. Once the chipmunk crawls up the trap, he drops into a bucket and cannot climb out. How to Make a Bucket Trapīucket traps are a type of live trap that you can make from items lying around your home. This cage is a humane trap that ensures that the chipmunk gets to live in a better-suited environment than your home. Most trappers take the cage to a field far away from their homes and set the animals free so that they don’t return. The chipmunk smells the food and enters the wire cage while the door closes behind the rodent and prevents it from escaping. Humane animal traps, like a Havahart cage trap, lure the animal with chipmunk baits.īait can be bird seed, sunflower seeds, peanut butter, pet food, or another type of food source. ![]() One of the most frequent ways to catch a chipmunk or to deal with a skunk problem is to set up a type of animal trap. If you have a squirrel or chipmunk problem, skim through these methods to find the best way to catch a chipmunk or the best way to catch a squirrel that works for you. Some local laws allow homeowners to kill small animals but be sure to double-check before taking this action. If you’re going to catch a chipmunk or when catching a rat in the garage, it’s safe to assume that you’re going to perform a catch and release somewhere further from your home. On top of that, they cost homeowners hundreds of dollars after climbing up their bird feeders and eating all the seeds. Even though you want to learn how to catch a chipmunk because they cause damage, they also aren’t the best animals to have hanging around if you have children or pets.įinding a solution to get rid of chipmunks is vital because these small rodents carry fleas, rabies, and other diseases that make us sick and sometimes become deadly. The first breeding season takes place just after hibernation in the early spring, and the second takes place toward the final months of summer.Ī litter includes up to eight babies, although at least half typically die from larger predators. Chipmunks usually have rusty brown, red, grey, or black fur with stripes on their faces and backs.Ĭhipmunks populate quickly because they have two breeding seasons. However, they are much smaller than squirrels and spend a large chunk of time in burrows. Chipmunks are closely related to squirrels and have a variety of shapes and colors. We are still trying to figure out exactly how to rotate the world and we have two directions we are following right now. Of course an option to invert the rotation can kind of solve this problem, but in our opinion people tend to still mix up the rotations after inverting the controls.Īnother way we are trying to counter both these issues, is to give the player the possibility to pause the world by pressing and holding A to start rotation. That is because players can see the rotation in two different ways: one thinks of either the world or the character as the object that is being rotated and depending on that, tilting right or left means something different. And it does for many players, but some still have the feeling it's wrong. We hoped that this makes the rotation more naturally, because the Wiimote can be seen as the floor that is being rotated. To rotate the world, one needs to tilt the Wiimote left or right. In one control style the player holds the Wiimote in ahorizontal position, like a NES controller, walks with the Control Pad and jumps with 1 or 2. Both of these issues can lead to frustration. We see two main problems: at the start players always have a problem to anticipate how the world will actually turn when they press the button, and they have trouble getting the correct timing in fast-paced situations. We are also trying to use the unique features of the Wiimote to workaround issues player had on the PC. But that's the boring one to discuss and I guess anyone can see how it will work. IGN: Tell us about the multiple control schemes.įelix: The one that is definitely going to be in, is a classical one, using buttons on the Wiimote and, if preferred, the Nunchuck or the Classic controller. We are still in process of fine-tuning the controls, so anything I'm saying here might still change, depending on the outcome of play-test sessions. This really depends on different things, like ones play-style, experience with video games and/or with the Wii, etc. ![]() How do you play the game on Wii?įelix: There will be different control methods on the Wii and the user will be able to choose which one he or she prefers. It's good fun, but the keyboard controls are not ideal. IGN: The game is readily available on PC and Mac. When rotating levels, be careful you don't create Indiana Jones-like problems for yourself. We didn't want that to happen to And Yet It Moves, and if we are going to have a "story" in any of our future games, we want it to be told through gameplay and really be part of the design from the start. We also think that in many games stories are not necessary and usually just feel tacked on. We deliberately decided to leave out a backstory, because we wanted to focus all our energy on a good game and level design. So the player is always pushed moving towards that. Each level has an endpoint and save-points in-between pointing the player to that goal. Our focus during the design phase was on combining platforming and puzzle play and enhancing the abilities of players in a classical 2D platformer.įelix: The objective is plain and old-school: beat the game and reach the end. Of course we also wanted to include physics to make the challenges more interesting and, in general, the world more alive. That's basically where the idea of turning the world was coming from and another proof of how constraints tend to be good friends of designers. So we came up with our way to give the player control over the world, and let them rotate it to remove vertical barriers. We wanted to provide something different than just the regular running, jumping or shooting. ![]() Our supervisors wanted us to do a 2D game so we posed the question of how can we give the player more abilities in a 2D space.
